Glenn R. Olson, age 76, of Madison, died Wed., Nov. 4, 2009 at his residence.
Glenn was born August 12, 1933 at Salem, to William and Isabel (Reiber) Olson. He was raised in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School. He married Inez Struwe on July 18, 1954 at Madison. They lived in Sioux Falls where Glenn worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. They moved to Madison in 1973 and he retired from the phone company in 1990. He later worked at Bob’s Electric in Madison. They loved to travel to Texas in the winter and to various Masonic and Order of Eastern Star activities. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Naval Reserve “Seabees.” Glenn was a member of Evergreen Masonic Lodge, OES, and held many leadership roles including Grand Commander of SD Masonic Lodge and Grand Worthy Patron of SD Order of Eastern Star. He loved to hunt and fish, and was a hunting safety instructor.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: his parents; his wife Inez in 2007; two brothers, Charles “Alan” Olson and Bill Olson; one sister, Jane Nebbiker; and an infant daughter Dawn.
SURVIVORS: one daughter, Glennda (Roger) McKee of Evanston, WY; four sons, Victor (MariAnne) Olson of Clearfield, UT, Mark (Stephanie) Olson of Canal Winchester, OH, Scott (Brandy) Olson of Summerville, SC and Roger (Tammy) Olson of Madison; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one brother George (Joan) Olson of Sioux Falls, SD.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to the First Presbyterian Church.
