Coletta Ellwanger, 90, of Boise, ID, and formerly of Custer, SD, and Hot Springs, SD, passed away November 4, 2009 at Life Care of Treasure Valley Nursing Home in Boise, ID.

Coletta was born May 30, 1919, to Henry and Mary (Weis) Boeding in Ziebach County, SD. She taught school in Isabel, SD, where she was an inspiration to many students. After marrying Earl Ellwanger, they moved to Custer, where she raised two sons and also taught school. After her beloved husband passed away, she moved into the Evans Apartments in Hot Springs. Her later years included such hobbies as knitting and playing Canasta with her friends at the Evan’s.

Coletta is survived by her three grandchildren, Chad Ellwanger; Brian Ellwanger; Scot Ellwanger and seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl Ellwanger, Sr.; sons, Earl Ellwanger, Jr. and Carl Ellwanger.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Funeral Services beginning at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 9, 2009, at McColley’s Chapel of the Hills in Custer, SD, with Pastor Bill Savery officiating . Interment will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 9, 2009 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
