Egan - Norma "Tootie" Steinhauer, 84, died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Riverview Manor, Flandreau. Norma Mae was born October 27, 1925 at Egan, SD to Dick and Lena (Scharnhorst) Jessen. She received her elementary education at Dockstader School in Trent, SD and graduated from Egan High School in 1943. Tootie married Emil Steinhauer on January 11, 1949 in Pipestone, MN. Tootie worked as a waitress and a clerk for many years and also managed a cafe in Egan for a year. She also did some babysitting and was a homemaker. Tootie was a member of Egan United Methodist Church, loved to fish and played pinochle with three friends for over 30 years.

Tootie is survived by her husband, Emil; three sons, John (Jennifer), Egan, Robert (Gayle), Farmington, MN and Tom (Amy), Egan; and four grandchildren, Brian, Amy, Dallas and Harley. She was preceded in death by her father, Dick Jessen, her mother and stepfather, Lena and Henry Maseman and an infant daughter.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11:00 am at Egan United Methodist Church with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Egan. Visitation begins at 3:00 pm Sunday at Skroch Funeral Chapel with the family present from 3:00 - 5:00 pm.
