Mitchell Standout Signs with Southwest Minnesota State University

MARSHALL, MINN.: Southwest Minnesota State University men¹s basketball head coach Greg Stemen announced on Tuesday that 6-foot-5 guard Jordan Miller from Mitchell, S.D, has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and basketball career at SMSU.

Miller had an outstanding senior season for Mitchell High School leading the Kernels to the Class 2A state tournament championship game averaging 16.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. A 2008 South Dakota Mr.
Basketball Finalist, Miller was named first team all-conference and first team all-state for his efforts this season. He was also named the Mitchell Daily Republic Player of the Year and was named to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader First Five squad. Miller was also named most valuable player of the South Dakota Three-Class Shootout All-Star series.

³Jordan is a complete basketball player who will fit very well into the Mustang basketball program,² Stemen said. ³His ability to score and also to create scoring opportunities for his teammates will be extremely valuable.
He has been well coached and is familiar with success having played in a great high school program.²

Miller¹s cousin Jared Miller was a guard on the SMSU men¹s basketball NCAA regional championship team in 2000-01 while another cousin Mike Miller is a current member of the Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA.

Miller is the second high school standout to sign with SMSU for the upcoming 2008-09 season. Lavione West, a 6-foot-6 guard from Davenport West (Iowa) High School signed during the early signing period in November.

³Jordan and Lavione, are two well rounded basketball players and more importantly two great people who, by signing with Southwest, have solidified the foundation of our program for years to come,² Stemen said.

Southwest Minnesota State, located in Marshall, Minn., is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
SMSU finished 17-12 overall last season, finished third in the 10-team NSIC and just missed qualifying for the NCAA tournament.

I'd say 6'3" tops. We'll see how "BIG" he plays once he gets on the court. His cousin Jared also played for NSU as well. Way to go KSFY for getting your facts straight!
