SDSU narrows list for head volleyball coach

South Dakota State narrowed its search for a head volleyball coach down to three Division I assistant coaches who will be on campus this week for interviews.

The candidates scheduled for on campus interviews this week include Dartmouth (N.H.) assistant Nana Allison-Brewer, Kansas State assistant Justin Ingram and New Mexico State assistant Ashley Hardee.

An assistant coach at Dartmouth (N.H.) since 2006, Nana Allison-Brewer is scheduled to interview on Monday and Tuesday.

A four-year letterwinner at the University of New Mexico, Allison-Brewer coached high school volleyball for four years before working as a volunteer assistant at the University of Arizona, where she earned her master’s degree.

In two seasons at Arizona, the Wildcats made two NCAA Tournament appearances, advancing to the second round in 2004 and to the Regional Finals in 2005.

Kansas State assistant coach Justin Ingram makes the trip to campus on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ingram played and coached on the Iowa State men’s club team as an undergraduate student and then continued coaching and playing while pursuing his master’s degree at Cal Poly.

Ingram joined the staff at the University of Houston in 1998 and helped coach the Cougars to a pair of NCAA Tournament bids.

After leaving Houston, Ingram went to Kansas State in 2001 and helped coach the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament in six of the next seven seasons.

New Mexico assistant Ashley Hardee comes to campus on Thursday and Friday.

Hardee got his first head coaching job at J.H. Rose High School in Greenville, S.C., while still an undergraduate student at East Carolina University.

Upon completion of his degree at ECU in 2000, Hardee joined the staff at New Mexico State as an assistant coach in 2001.

The Aggies won the Sun Belt Conference Western Division Title in his first two seasons on the staff, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in four of the last five years.

The three candidates are interviewing to replace Jackrabbit head coach Andrew Palileo, who resigned his position on April 15 to take the head coaching position at Washington State University.
