Lasoski Always Glad to Come to Huset's

By Sports KSFY

Danny Lasoski became a household name at Huset's Speedway in the early 90's. After a long absence from victory lane, "The Dude" from Dover is making a comeback.

"When you get that hometown crowd behind you, it helps too."

While Brandon, South Dakota isn't the official hometown of Danny Lasoski, it sure seemed that way for much of the 1990's. That time spent at Huset's Speedway prepared Lasoski for a remarkable sprint car career.

"It makes you a very smart racecar driver to be able to start in the back here and win. You get the sensation of traffic. Then you go to Knoxville and get the sensation of speed. You get the best of both worlds."

Danny Lasoski won back to back championships at Huset's in 1989 and 1990. He added a third in 1993. After that, his appearances grew sparse. His last feature win at Huset's came in 1996, that is until this year when lasoski claimed back to back checkered flags over memorial day weekend. He feels a major reason for his resurgence has a lot to do with his racecar.

"Guy Forbrook always puts a great racecar out here at Huset's."

In his time away from Huset's, Lasoski has been a fixture at knoxville raceway in iowa where he is a four-time track champion. He has also competed nationally with the IROC as well as the world of outlaws where he was the points champion in 2001.

"Night in and night out it doesn't matter if you're the hometown favorite. It doesn't matter if you've won five races in a row. When the outlaws come in, you better step up."

And that's exactly what Lasoski has done, step up. And as he races more and more in South Dakota. "The Dude" from Dover can perhaps, once again call Huset's home.
