(Sioux Falls) Sioux Falls Canaries manager Steve Shirley will rejoin the 'Birds Thursday night when the Canaries open up a four game set with Lincoln.

Shirley left the team shortly after the Canaries clinched the first half title on June 26th to recover from a blood clot in his lung. Shirley has missed 32 games while he's been home back in New Mexico, per doctors orders, recovering from his blood clot. The Canaries went 18-14 in his absence.

While it's been more than a month since he's set foot in a dugout, the second year skipper is excited to rejoin his team.
Steve Shirley says, "I'm looking forward to seeing the guys and getting back on the field and doing some of things you enjoy doing with baseball. Being on the field, being with the guys is a huge part of it and of course I missed that."

First pitch Thursday at the Birdcage is set for 7:05.
