The Augustana women’s basketball team claimed the No. 17 spot on the Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25 ranking that was released Friday.

The Vikings, who went 22-9 last season, has four returning starters and seven other key contributors on the roster this season. Augustana is the only team from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tabbed in the top 25.

Defending national champion Northern Kentucky was the preseason No. 1 pick. In addition, Johanna Leedham, a junior center at Franklin Pierce, the Preseason Player of the Year.

The Vikings begin their regular season at home against Chadron State on October 16 at 2 p.m.
