BYU vs. New Mexico Soccer BrawlWe are used to seeing fights break out between men in sporting events such as hockey or baseball, but this time a fight broke out during a soccer game, and it wasn't the men's team. In certain sports you expect to catch an elbow when fighting for position but this is definitely questionable behavior when a player from the New Mexico women's soccer team very obviously hits the BYU player in the back. That wasn't the only un-sportsman like conduct on the field however. Any female athlete will tell you that there is some minor hair pulling but the player from New Mexico grabs the BYU player's hair so hard that she actually forces the player to the ground. BYU ended up winning 1-0. The following comments do not necessarily represent the views of KSFY.com. Users have agreed to these terms and in doing so accept full responsibility for their comments. She received a Yellow card for the one dirty play in which she was not provoked. I think the BYU coaches realized from previous games that #15 has a temper, and were trying to get her ejected so they would be one player up for the rest of the game. She has embarrassed her school and family. Playing NCAA Div 1 sports is a privilege and honor.. one she doesn't deserve!! Monday, Nov 9 at 6:13 PM anonymous wrote ...How embarrasing that the refs missed her malicious behavior. They should be suspended as well. New Mexico's coaches should also look themselves in the face and ask themselves "is this the kind of play I condone". This put's a very bad light on their whole program. What a horrible thing to be (in)famous for. Monday, Nov 9 at 3:42 PM Anonymous wrote ...She should have turned around and flat punch that chick in the face. Monday, Nov 9 at 12:02 PM momoffive wrote ...I have NEVER seen such appalling behavior. It is very unfortunate that this was allowed to happen on the field. The refs should have taken care of this early on. Luckily no one was really injured. The look on her face when she pulled her hair and when she punched the girl in the back was scary. She has ruined her own soccer career. Monday, Nov 9 at 11:55 AM Anonymous wrote ...That is not soccer that is violence. She and her coach should be jailed for assault. If she want's to fight she should go into the ring. Those were cheap, low blow shots. Anyone thinking this is sport should see their shrink! Monday, Nov 9 at 11:25 AM Old Hat trick wrote ...Soccer is a game of finess. If you are any good you can easily deal with someone who is giving you cheap-shots. The hair-pulling is just plain dumb. If all else failed a nice hard slide-tackle would have done well to prove a point and would have been legal too. Monday, Nov 9 at 10:45 AM DRTG wrote ...Albeit soccer is a full contact sport that is clearly just bullying, ... it didn't even help them score so whatev, ..it was all for crap any how...she just looks like a big ol' B! Saturday, Nov 7 at 6:56 AM Seriously? wrote ...This is soccer, it's a physical, full contact game. BYU was clearly dirty in every single clip of video I've seen of this game. The girl that got her hair pulled is literally a DRAMA major. People in this country have no clue what soccer is really like, they just react to the crap stories that their told without making their own opinion on fact Friday, Nov 6 at 4:04 PM Tre C wrote ...I would love the chance to date her. She must have a crazy wild side! Friday, Nov 6 at 3:12 PM Greg W wrote ...Hey I am not supporting the retaliation here, but the BYU player through the first elbo. I say let the cats fight. The Center Ref and his or her AR should have caught more of this and ended it before it escalated. unfortunate all the way around. NM needs a boxing program Friday, Nov 6 at 1:35 PM sportswatcher wrote ...Bravo for BYU! Haven't seen any team handle a difficult situation so well as they did. No fighting back, nothing. They just pointed to the scoreboard at the end of the game and everyone started cheering. Friday, Nov 6 at 10:09 AM soccermom wrote ...Why would her coaches (kit and Jorge Vela) allow that on the field, they had to have seen it happen. They need to be punished as well. The administration needs to be involved, an embarassment to the university of New Mexico !! Friday, Nov 6 at 10:02 AM Brawl? wrote ...I thought a brawl consisted of more than 1 person...this was a woman bullying anyone in her space...absolutely disgusting!!!!!!! and that is a complete understatement Friday, Nov 6 at 9:54 AM tyrone wrote ...her behavior went way beyond rough into scary territory. this girl has some anger issues that need to be addressed by a doctor. Friday, Nov 6 at 9:50 AM Joe R wrote ...I saw the video and her behavior was unacceptable. She represents her school her team and her coaches. Apparently sportsmanship means very little to her.
