Jackrabbits fall to IUPUI in soccer championship
BROOKINGS, S.D. — Second-seeded IUPUI scored four second-half goals to defeat South Dakota State 4-1 in the Summit League women’s soccer championship match Sunday afternoon at Fishback Soccer Park.
IUPUI, 17-4-0 overall, will make its first-ever appearance in the NCAA College Cup. Pairings will be announced Monday.

The Jackrabbits ended their season with an 11-7-2 overall record.
SDSU dominated play early and broke into the scoring column in the eighth minute of the match on a goal by Danni Healy. Assisting on Healy’s fifth goal of the season were Kaitlin Justice and Kayla Braffet.
The momentum began to shift in IUPUI’s favor in the closing minutes of the first half, despite missing on a penalty kick in the 38th minute.

The Jaguars carried the advantage into the second half, tying the game eight minutes into the second stanza on a free-kick goal by Stephanie Hoffman.

IUPUI gained the lead 15 minutes later as Kelli Parks gathered in a long throw-in by Chelsi McHenry and beat Jackrabbit goalkeeper Brie Rogers. The Jaguars added two more goals in the final five minutes as McHenry and Megan Hock each found the net. Hock’s goal came as time expired as she fired a shot from about 30 yards out.

Tournament Most Valuable Player Jamie Farrell made seven saves, including five in the first half, in recording the victory for the Jaguars.
SDSU held a 16-13 edge in shots.

The Jackrabbits were represented on the all-tournament team by Justice, Jess Heine and Christa Nyblom. Heine and reserve goalkeeper Daniella Pappas were the only seniors on this year’s team for SDSU.
