Adam Vinatieri's name comes up a lot...when looking back at past Super Bowl...the former SDSU Jackrabbit hit 2-game winning kicks...for the Patriots...in their run of three super bowl wins in four years...that first game winner agaiinst the Rams in 2002...is the one he remembers the most.

This season...after hitting 7-of nine field goals in the first six games...he had to have athroscopic surgery on his knee in October...the hope was that he would be ready for the playoffs...when he wasn't the Colts decided to stick with Matt Stover...but Vinatieri will still be ready in case.

Vinatieri "I'm preparing like i'm playing..you never know what can happen of what will happen...I'll prepare like any other week...and if my number isn't called...I'll be a cheerleader and hand out gatorade...and I'll be cheering real loud.

Since he's on the active roster...Vinatieri will tie an NFL record for Super Bowl appearances with six.

If the Colts beat the Saints...it'll be his 5th ring...which would tie him with Charles Haley for the most rings for a player.

Vinatieri has already won three with the Patriots...and one other one with the Colts 3-years ago.
