Avera Medical Minute: Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis
Cecile Beecroft is getting the word out about the Arthritis Foundation
A cold day and arthritis isn't stopping Cecile Beecroft from her mission. She's trying to get the word out about Sioux Falls' first annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis being held the day after Thanksgiving.
"It's just going to be an outstanding time and its raising awareness for the Arthritis Foundation and people right here in our community that may not have an awareness of how many people suffer with arthritis. You truly do suffer when you have arthritis," she said.
Beecroft said there is hope for those suffering from the disease.
"They've made great inroads for the medications, especially for rheumatoid arthritis. They keep working on make new drugs that people can take. The Arthritis Foundation is trying to raise money and help people."
Registration will take place at the Sioux Falls YMCA beginning at 2:00 Friday. The events will be held in Falls Park at 4 p.m. To get into the holiday spirit, event organizers are asking those who are participating in the Jingle Bell Run wear a holiday themed costume and tie jingle bells to your shoelaces.
