Avera Medical Minute: Screening for Stroke Live 5/30/10

Dr. David Malters, an Internal Medicine Specialist, describes the symptoms of stroke and explains the value of the stroke and vascular screenings being offered at Avera Queen of Peace. 

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening:
This screening visualizes the abdominal aorta and looks for a ballooning of this vessel, or an aneurysm, which could rupture.

Stroke Screening:
This screening visualizes the buildup of fatty blockage, or plaque, in the carotid arteries. This condition could cause a stroke.

Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening:
This screening checks for blockages in the leg arteries. Abnormal results may indicate high risk for coronary artery and peripheral arterial disease.

Each test costs $35 dollars or you can get all three for $90.
Screenings at Avera Queen of Peace are available two days a week: Wednesday and Thursday from 1-3pm.
