There is now one-stop-shopping for all your home medical supplies and equipment. The new Avera Living Well Center has opened up in Sioux Falls and it's in a familiar location with lots of parking.
The old Hy-Vee Grocery Store on 33rd and Minnesota in Sioux Falls has been transformed into the premier home medical equipment shopping center in the 5 state region. The Avera Living Well Center was designed with you in mind.
Mary Clare Miller is the director and says, "Before we had two separate locations with a much smaller showroom. Now we have a 5,000 square foot showroom and are able to increase our product line and carry products that are unique to the area."
From head to toe literally. They have 4 Respiratory Therapists on staff to fit you for sleep apnea gear and education rooms to do it in. Plus the i-Step does foot mapping. By the way, they sell copper socks and are guaranteed to help with stinky feet caused by fungus.
In the back is what they call the Women's Center. It's boutique-like and very private for women who have been through enough.
Site Manager Claire Antonson says, "We wanted to have it so a women who've gone through surgery are comfortable. They can pick out bras, get mastectomy products and swimsuits and feel like she is beautiful. "
They've also set up a model home with a little hallway covered in different floor textures like carpet and linoleum. That way clients can try out different walkers to see if it will work in their home. There is also a marked track if you want to test drive a new wheelchair or scooter and 4 Rehabilitation Therapists on hand to make sure it's a perfect ride.
Claire says, "We have products you can be well for too. Exercise equipment, monitoring equipment. It's for everybody. You don't have to be sick to come visit us."
Avera means to live well, to be well. The Avera Living Well Center wants to make sure you can do that safely at home no matter your age or ailment.
