Andrew Murphy is the Avera Queen of Peace Acceleration Program Coordinator.
Action News Reporter Nancy Naeve Brown thinks she has uncovered the secret to Dakota Wesleyan University's track team. It involves a crazy amount of work, dedication and talent and the Avera Queen of Peace Acceleration Program. Nancy asked the coordinator to describe why this program puts athletes at the top of their game.
Avera Queen of Peace Acceleration Program Coordinator Andrew Murphy says, "The acceleration program has been in Mitchell since about 10 years ago. We got it when Mike Miller was around to improve the basketball program. We deal with a range of every age. We have 7 year olds up to recreational athletes. Adults who want to get in a recreation league, but mostly we deal with college and high school athletes. It improves their strength and speed. With the over-speed treadmill we get them to run faster and in doing so they are running more efficiently and become naturally stronger. We see a lot of that kind of improvement.
Nancy says, "That's why you are cranking out such good athletes in Mitchell! For more information call 877-AT-AVERA."
