Walking is easy, free, and has the lowest dropout rate of any exercise. If you're not a regular walker, the time to start is here. The 2010 American Heart Association Heart Walk will be this Saturday (August 28th) at Falls Park in Sioux Falls. To talk about this event is cardiologist and medical chair for the walk, Dr. Mark Gordon with North Central Heart Institute.
Dr. Gordon tells us how much benefit a simple activity like walking can have on someone's health. Plus it's a great event to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the 3 mile walk starts at 9:15 a.m. at Falls Park. The Avera Heart Hospital will be offering hands only CPR training and nutrition information. There will be live music, blood pressure checks, AED demos from Phillips, inflatables for the kids and the walk is a free event!
