Hunting season is nearing,  but is your heart ready? On Sept. 30th the Avera Queen of Peace is sponsoring a Men's Health Fair at Cabela's in Mitchell. We asked the Co-Chair of the event why the foundation is footing the bill.

Avera Queen of Peace Foundation Director and Co-Chair of the Men's Health Fair Geri Beck says, "The health fair this fall is a combination of prostate screening we did a year ago at Cabela's. We thought if 100 guys showed up if would be a success but 200 showed up so needless to say we were thrilled with that. So it seemed normal to go ahead and consolidate the men's health fair with prostate screening. We hope men are interested to know whether they have elevated PSA or other blood tests we are doing but want an excuse to come shop at Cabela's. One of our focuses, our primary focus of the Avera Queen of Peace Foundation has been early detection and treatment of cancer. We've received $60,000 from a local effort called the Char Greenway Memorial Bowling Tournament to pay for free cancer screenings. We've screened 511 in this community and surrounding area. By coming to Cabela's (on Sept. 30th) they are getting the best of both worlds... it may save a life and you get to shop."
