Nursing in the future of Vermillion senior

Posted: Updated:

Next spring our Scholar of the Week will graduate Vermillion High School with her class of ninety.

And while Carlee Sorensen is looking forward to college - she hopes to bring her career back home around those who helped get her started.

Our Scholar of the Week is definitely not a slacker.

"She's been involved with soccer, volleyball, track, basketball, she puts 100 percent into anything she does," says Len Griffin.

Carlee Sorensen says she's involved with sports year round, playing volleyball and softball.

"In the winter I'm in basketball and the spring - track," she says.

Next fall she hopes to be a Jackrabbit at South Dakota State and major in nursing, but she says it'll be hard to let playing sports go.

"I'm not sure if I'll play, my dad wants me to walk on and tryout but I'll see."

After college Carlee looks forward to coming back home to pursue her career.

"I want a job that I want to go to everyday, that I don't want to dread."

A goal those who've had her in their classroom know she'll achieve.

"She's just one of the best."

A hundred dollar scholarship is headed Carlee's way from Clay-Union Electric Corporation, a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
