Avera Queen of Peace and Cabela's teamed up to offer a Men's Health Fair and they want to make sure we are healthy before we head out to hunt. Action News Anchor Nancy Naeve Brown was in Mitchell talk to one of the doctors who was there to talk about why you should get a full lipid profile.

Dr. David Malters Internal Medicine Specialist at Drs. Malters and Malters Clinic in Mitchell says, "The lipids are correlated with have heart disease and strokes and PAD peripheral arterial disease. If one has high cholesterol, especially the bad cholesterol LDL, then one should try to get it lowered either through exercise, stopping smoking if you smoke, lose weight if you are overweight and medication if your doctor prescribed that for you.

Q: To get tested it's a blood draw right?

A: Yes and here at Cabela's today you can do that, plus get your PSA checked for prostate cancer and blood sugar for diabetes all for $15 so it's a good deal.

Q: If you levels are high does that mean you could have heart disease in the future?

A: Or it could mean you have it now and not even know it. If you get tested here you will get the results and then you should follow up with your personal doctor or see your doctor and get this done. You should know where you are.

Q: And because men don't often go to the doctor that's why you all came here right?

A: Yes, I'm a man and men tend not to take care of themselves. They take care of their car and their truck."

The Health Fair runs until 7:00 pm on Sept. 30th at Cabela's in Mitchell.
