At the end of your work day do you feel like your shoulders are so tight with tension that they are almost attached to your ears?  For a lot of us, daily stresses tend to build up throughout the day and manifests in our upper back and neck causing terrible pain and headaches.   Luckily for folks in Yankton, massage therapists are on duty at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital to work out the kinks.  Nancy Naeve Brown asked Jennifer Howell what brings people in to see her.

Avera Sacred Heart Massage Therapist Jennifer Howell says, "I deal with lots of different problems and conditions. I treat pain relief, anxiety disorders, people with sinus headaches and migraines, back problems, neck problems so really a wide range of things.

Q: How does massage therapy help with those conditions?

A: It stimulates blood circulation through the body, which helps to relieve the injury faster. It helps relax the muscles and tension and helps to create a better well being.

Q: How often do you recommend that people come to see you?

A: Usually once a month is typical, but some do seasonal treatments.

Q: People really shouldn't consider this as treating themselves because for many it's necessary in quality of life issues right?

A: Yes, it is.
