Medicare beneficiaries can take part in the Annual Enrollment Period for Medicare Health Insurance coverage until December 31, 2010 and there have been some changes to plans that beneficiaries need to be aware of. Jack Arnett, CSA with Avera Select explains why it's important for Medicare beneficiaries to understand these changes and where they can go for help if they have questions.
BACKGROUND: Medicare Beneficiaries are currently in the AEP or Annual Enrollment Period for their Medicare Health Insurance coverage – including Medicare Part D. (Medicare's prescription drug plan.) During this time, beneficiaries can makes changes to their existing plans or change to new coverage. This period runs through December 31st.
Their have been some Medicare Advantage plans that will not be renewing their plans for 2011. Therefore, those Medicare beneficiaries that are losing their coverage and have not found new healthcare coverage need to make an appointment with an insurance professional to help guide them through the many options that are available.
We are seeing many SD / NW Iowa Medicare beneficiaries returning to traditional Medicare and Medicare supplements. With the many changes taking place in the Medicare arena, many people are returning to what they know and are comfortable with.
Jack Arnett completed a professional designation called Certified Senior Advisor – one of only 18 throughout SD, which lends to the credibility factor.
