Dell Rapids senior likes to try new things

Posted: Updated:

She loves the high jump in track and also enjoys cross country.

Nicole Snyder's list of activities and classes is long and varied.

You could call today's Scholar of the Week Dell Rapids' renaissance girl.

"I figure if I'm gonna be here I wanna get as much out of it as I can."

That's Nicole Snyder's attitude toward high school...and life.

Which may explain her unique hobby.

"I'm big into poultry. I'm the two time winner of the South Dakota State Grand Champion award and I take care of my animals," explains Nicole.

The animals take up her free takes up the rest.

"I plan to do forensic pathology and you need your calculations and learn how to learn," says Nicole.

Nicole's planning on going to N.D.S.U. next fall and majoring in bio chemistry.

With her career goal she knows she's facing four years of undergrad plus at least four years of med school.

"Hopefully I'll still be going for forensic pathology but med school's a good thing to fall back on."

Her teacher Jann Saxon says, "She always wants to know why and I can see that fitting her well."

"I do a lot of different things, I wanna say I tried everything once," says Nicole.

Sioux Valley Energy is giving Nicole a hundred dollar scholarship for being our Scholar of the Week.

That's a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
