Preventative medicine has long been considered by many to be the best kind of medicine. Business owners who provide insurance benefits for their employees couldn't agree more.   Nancy Naeve Brown tells us that's why the Dakota King Company has on-site health screening done annually to identify potential high-risk cases before they occur.

Tom Walsh, President of Dakota King Incorporated is taking advantage of the Screening Partners program which is one of the many services offered through Avera Health Plans.

Cindy Walsh is the Director Human Resources and Public Relations for Dakota King Inc. and says, "We wanted to do it as a preventative to help our people. You never know with insurance and what's going to happen with it so we need to be very proactive and it's a great thing Avera offers. It's cholesterol, coaching, glucose, weight. The more educated we can be on ourselves, the better for our own health it will be."

Tara Bunde is an Avera Health Educator and is heading up 1 of the 4 stations set up throughout the Dakota King Corporate Offices in Sioux Falls to run employees through health checks. They decided to do the screening the day of their company Christmas party since 60 of their leadership team from across the state was going to be in Sioux Falls. Walsh says it's good for their employees and good for their bottom line.
Walsh says, "Insurance is something we have no control over. The only thing we can control is being proactive. Avera does a wonderful job. I can't say enough good things about them."

Dakota King choose Avera Health Plans because of their value added services and because they want  everyone in their whopper of a family to live long healthy lives. It has to start with the king!

The on-site screenings are done annually and Dakota King plans to do a follow up to make sure everyone is staying on track.
