Today's Scholar of the Week may be enjoying a four-day school week, but just because Brent Matter gets an extra day off - doesn't mean he's slacking off.
He's making the most out of that extra time.
"He's always been the student who asks lots of questions. He wants to know how and why," says Iroquois High School science teacher Steve Dejong.
He says that combined with a constant search for perfection have helped with Scholar of the Week Brent Matter's success.
The Iroquois senior has a loaded schedule and also plays football, basketball and runs track.
"I don't think I have the skills to be a college athlete - just to participate is why I'm in sports," explains Matter.
Brent is on a four day week in school - but doesn't take Fridays off.
He works two jobs - one at Wal-Mart in Huron, the other at a friend's trucking company.
He, like most teenagers, enjoys hanging out with his friends.
"Hang out in Iroquois go anywhere or do anything we can get our hands on."
He's enjoying that time now - as things will be different when he starts school next fall at Dakota Wesleyan University and plans to study dentistry.
For his hard work, Dakota Energy Cooperative is giving Brent a hundred dollar scholarship.
Dakota Energy is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
