Colman-Egan senior loves tutoring younger students

Posted: Updated:

Brooke Hemmer's been raised on the family farm and enjoys hunting and camping in the great outdoors.

Our Scholar of the Week is a University of Sioux Falls hopeful who hopes to start her career in her home state of South Dakota.

"I like to have a busy schedule, it keeps me occupied!" says Brooke Hemmer.

With seven classes including math, anatomy and business law - Brooke is busy!

She also likes volleyball, cross country and basketball and is busy with N.H.S. and student council.

"I like to read, play sports and spend time with my friends," says Brooke.

Brooke also spends a lot of her time tutoring younger students.

"Whether they're younger or older, they also chose her as Homecoming Queen," says her teacher Valerie Parsley.

Brooke says she's having a hard time choosing between education and physical therapy as future careers.

"I really like anatomy, it's really interesting to me," says Brooke.

With only 20 seniors in her graduating class - Brooke says she's loved going to a small school.

"Our class, we get close and you feel welcome."

Sioux Valley Energy is sending Brooke a hundred dollar scholarship for her hard work - that's a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
