Reducing our salt intake.
Our medical expert Dr. Jennifer McKay with Avera McKennan talks about the new dietary guidelines that suggest we need to drastically cut our salt intake. Especially those people who are most at risk for high blood pressure; including those over the age of 51, African-Americans, those suffering from hypertension, diabetes or chronic kidney disease are being urged to consume only 1/2 a teaspoon of salt a day. The rest of us can stick to a teaspoon a day which is 1/3 less than the average person consumes now.
