Ipswich Senior wants to help people

Posted: Updated:

An athlete and a scholar.

Whitney Geditz balances it all and makes the grade while doing it.

The Ipswich High School senior is today's Scholar of the Week.

Whitney Geditz says her favorite class in school is anatomy.

"I've learned so much about the human body," says Whitney.

But beyond what she learns from her text books...

"Our teacher makes it fun and interesting, I learned things I didn't know before."

Whitney started playing saxophone in fifth grade and still plays today.

"I also like my music classes because music is a major part of my life."

Outside the classroom she says she likes to hunt and is a member of N.H.S., science club and Future Business Leaders of America.

Her teachers have taken notice.

"She is very determined and she always takes an interest so she's just an excellent academic student," says business teacher Lynette Heitz.

An excellent academic student with a bright future - no matter what she chooses.

"I can't for sure say but I want to help people, I'm not sure right now," says Whitney.

FEM Electric Association is sending Whitney a hundred dollar scholarship for all her hard work - that's a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
