Ipswich senior values hard work

Posted: Updated:

Tonight's Scholar of the Week doesn't only have a sky-high G.P.A., she may just graduate at the very top of her class.

But Rachel Fuhrmann knows it wasn't luck that got her there.

"I can name off 206 bones, she makes me feel that I can do anything," says Rachel, who believes that's the reason anatomy is her favorite class.

But not her only class.

Environmental science, English, geography and band and choir fill up her schedule.

This student body president is slated to graduate as valedictorian or salutatorian of her class.

"She is a very good leader and works for them," says Ipswich High School principal Trent Osborne.

Rachel says basketball is a huge part of her life.

She has practice every day when she isn't playing in one of her 2 to 3 games each week.

She and her family live on a farm - which Rachel credits for the work ethic that's helped her in the classroom.

"I've learned that hard work will always get it done," says Rachel.

It's also possibly what's leading Rachel to consider a future career in veterinary medicine.

A local Touchstone Energy Cooperative, F.E.M. Electric Association is sending Rachel a hundred dollar scholarship for her hard work.
