Scholar of the Week: Tea senior loves history

Posted: Updated:

Today's Scholar of the Week keeps a high G.P.A. while playing sports and working a job.

Summer Mette also loves to travel and visit different museums.

"I've been involved in almost every club here," says Summer.

And she's athletic too.

Summer plays volleyball and basketball for Tea High School.

She's also in the band and choir - and plans to continue next fall in college when she attends SDSU.

Ii haven't decided on a major, English or history. The advanced classes will really help me for college."

To say Summer loves history is an understatement.

She says she loves visiting museums - not something you'd hear out of every teenager.

Summer remembers her favorite trip to Europe.

"It was educational. We went to Amsterdam, Paris, London and Brussels. If I could do that 5 to 10 years from now I'd be so happy."

After college Summer says she might go on to law school - but there's plenty of time to decide.

"She's prepared, she's knowledgeable, she's willing to take leadership and help other students get where they need to be," says her teacher Ryan Decker.

Southeastern Electric Cooperative is sending Summer a hundred dollar scholarship for being our Scholar of the Week.

That's a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
