A local group dedicated to changing the world is helping kids in Guatemala.
More than 1,500 shoes have been collected and will be shipped to needy kids in Guatemala.
Members with the Diversity Kiwanis Club got together to start packing boxes Saturday.
The shoes won't just help prevent diseases, kids will also benefit from the shoes in other ways.
"Children need shoes to attend school in Guatemala so a lot of times these pairs of school allows them to attend school," Carla Cooey said.
Each box holds about 250 shoes but costs about $200 to ship.
The club is accepting donations. If you want to help you can contact Carla Cooey at (605) 336-2359.
