Those severe storms in eastern South Dakota and in western Minnesota have caused significant damage to the power lines -- leaving many people without power within the east river electric power cooperative's service area and Sioux Valley Energy. Sioux Valley Energy says 270 people don't have power, most in the Ward area.
Near 100 utility poles are down from Colman, South Dakota to Marshall, Minnesota.
East River Electric says power is expected to be restored to Colman as well as Egan and Ward by Saturday night. But it could be several days to people who live in western Minnesota.
Power is back on for the west half of Flandreau. But power lines are still down and the eastern half of Flandreau is still without power. It could be a few days before that's back on.
