The biggest project our Habitat for Humanity chapter has done in more than 20 years kicked off Thursday in Sioux Falls.
For the next nine days KSFY is teaming up with a few groups for the "Amazing Blitz."
Volunteers will build 3 homes for families in need.
We are sponsoring one of the homes on West Amber Street and on day all the volunteers were hard at work.
Hard hats were on and hammers were nailing as the "Amazing Blitz" kicked off around 7 Thursday morning.
It's a race against the clock to build 3 houses for three deserving families in just 9 days.
Volunteers have traveled to Sioux Falls from places like Kansas, Chicago... we even met a group from Phoenix, Arizona whose here building the homes from the bottom up.
Bill Bauck is one of the lead volunteers with Habitat for Humanity. He was instrumental in planning the blitz and says he's glad to see it all come alive "this is a culmination of 6 or 8 months of bi-weekly meetings and telephone conferences, so it's pretty exciting to see it come to fruition and be able to drive some nails."
