Dedication day of the Amazing Blitz Project

Posted: Updated:

Around 100 people were out at West Amber Street: volunteers, sponsors, even complete strangers came to see the new houses being presented to their new owners. Volunteers are glad to be done building but sad it ended so soon.

Lots of applause this morning, laughs, even a few tears of joy filled West Amber Street while some shared their final thoughts.

Many in disbelief that this was done in just 9 days.

"There's always a time in this process where we sit back and say 'are we really going to pull this off?' but in the end it always seems to come out, the houses are complete, they look nice and great for the families to get a start," Bill Bauck said.

"It was hard work, hot, a lot of fun. We met a lot of new friends in South Dakota and we'll have those memories of this build with us forever," Bill said.

There are a few things that need to be finished, landscaping of course, is one of them, also paperwork and bills. Families won't be moving in until the end of August.
