Rapid City shooting suspect identified

Rapid City Police have identified the suspect in Tuesday's officer shooting as Daniel Tiger, 22, of Rapid City.

Tiger died at Rapid City Regional Hospital as a result of his injuries. Tiger was one of four individuals stopped by police at 4:30 p.m. on August 2. After several minutes of contact with police, Tiger pulled out a concealed pistol and fired multiple rounds at the three officers on scene.

Officer James Ryan McCandless, 28, died yesterday at Rapid City Regional Hospital as a result of his injuries.

The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and Pennington County Sheriff's Office are continuing to investigate the incident. All questions on the investigation should be directed to DCI or PCSO.
