KSFY's Pigskin Preview has served as the area's most complete insider's source for high school football since 1999. 2011 is the 13th year of the magazine, which has included previews of more than 1,000 high school teams.
Over the years KSFY has featured 73 high school athletes from 35 different schools on its cover. The featured athletes have included an NFL star, Chad Greenway, a 2011 pre-season All-American, Iowa's Riley Reiff, and numerous future Division I, Division II and NAIA stars. The group has included all-state performers from three states.
Through all the players and schools, the one constant on every cover has been KSFY Sports Director Erik Thorstensen who has been part of the preview magazine and "Friday Night Lights," KSFY's Friday night highlight show, since its beginning.
The magazine cover has included two pairs of brothers, including Tom and Derek Farniok of Sioux Falls Washington (in different years), who each led their school to state titles. The other set of brothers includes our first set of twins, Jason and Justin Greenway of Mitchell, on the cover in 2011. Those twins are cousins of Minnesota Vikings star Chad Greenway, who was featured on the second issue of the Pigskin Preview when he was leading Stickney/Mt. Vernon to the 1999 state championship.
