Students are back in school - which means it's once again time for the return of our Scholar of the Week.
We're starting the school year off with a Hanson High School senior who cares about her performance just as much - if not more - in the classroom as on her playing fields and courts.
Ashley Robinson is our Scholar of the Week.
"She's a great gal to have around school," explains Hanson High School teacher Roxane Alley.
Whether it's on the court, the field, or in the classroom - Hanson senior Ashley Robinson knows how to succeed.
But the loaded class schedule, numerous activities and plans for the future aren't the first things she talks about.
"I'm a big family girl. I hang out with my family out there," says Ashley.
Ashley plays volleyball, basketball and runs track.
She's a member of student council, and works on the school paper and yearbook.
She says pre-cal is her favorite class and in the future - she'll be a registered nurse.
"With that she's prepared with classes that will benefit her the most," says Alley.
Her teachers say Ashley has set her goals high - and will achieve them.
Alley explains, "The thing with Ashley is - people see her determination and dedication on the court, I get the advantage of seeing how determined she is in the classroom."
As our Scholar of the Week, Ashley will receive a hundred dollar scholarship from the Central Electric Cooperative Association, a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
