In an effort to raise awareness about the domestic violence, Augustana Theatre Department students are making blankets to benefit a Sioux Falls organization that helps families in need.
"This is a lot of fun. I haven't made blankets before like this, but I have a few of them and it's nice to be able to make some and give back."
"We are making blankets for the Children's Inn. I think we're going to end the day having made about 50 blankets total."
"Infant and toddler blankets for the small kids and we're going to donate them all."
"It's really nice. We don't often get this opportunity to just work for the community like this and we're really trying to reach out to the community more, especially this year."
"I really feel every little kid needs a blanket. I still have my baby blanket and it's one of those things that if you don't have one... if you don't get the privilege of have one... you get security with a blanket. You really do."
"I can't even imagine what they're going through so I think it's just great that if we can help in any way, even if it's just blankets, I think that's a wonderful gift that I am happy to be a part of."
"They're really easy, just two knots on two squares of felt and that's all it takes to give a kid a blanket. It's the most comforting thing in the world because it becomes yours after a while. It starts to smell like you and feel different and it becomes such an extension of you as a kid I think it's really important psychologically for their development."

If you're not familiar with The Children's Inn, the organization provides free services to women, children and men who are victims of family violence.
