We're nearly one month from the November 8th election. It's already setting records for absentee ballots alone. Mayor Mike Huether is confident he's done his part and will now leave the decision to the people.
"The events center topic is one in which all of us and every citizen in Sioux Falls will not agree with in its entirety. It's time to make an investment in our city's future," Mayor Mike Huether said.
However, not everyone is in favor of that investment.
"This is the wrong time with people suffering all across our nation, it's time for us not to build the events center," Barclay said. "This is a want and not a need, and it makes it very difficult on the tax payers."
As the campaign becomes more visible, every tax-payer will have to decide on their own.
"I plan to vote for sure, I haven't decided if I will vote for or against it but I would really like to see a new events center," Marilynn Becker said.
"I think it would be wonderful. We have 3 small children and I love anything that comes to Sioux Falls, kids activities, whatsoever," Kimberly Klein said.
"The people of our town, not the mayor or the city council, the people will ultimately decide," Mayor Huether said.
