Pheasant hunting season kicked off in the state this weekend.
The season will run in South Dakota through the end of the year.
Wildlife officials say there are fewer birds in the state this year, but they still predict a good season, because the drop is from historic highs.
Hunters shot 1.8 million pheasants last year. Also last year, hunters brought in more than 190 million dollars to the state.
The season officially started Saturday.
