A seventh-grade science and social studies teacher in Rapid City has received a prestigious national award, and the $25,000 prize that goes with it.
Dakota Middle School teacher Nicole Keegan was presented with the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award during a school assembly on Monday.
Keegan said she was shocked after getting the award from State Education Secretary Melody Schopp and Milken foundation senior vice president Jane Foley.
Every year the Milken Family Foundation honors about 1% of teachers around the country.
