Sioux Falls officials react to KSFY's four-part events center stories

Posted: Updated:

All week we've been sharing stories of other events center up and running around our region.

Monday we took you to Fargo, Tuesday to Omaha, Wednesday to Grand Forks and Thursday we brought you to Sioux City.

Our series showed you what impact these events centers have on their communities.

We sit down with some Sioux Falls city officials who give us their perspective of our four-part series.

We sat down with two people for the events center, Sioux Falls mayor Mike Huether and council member Jim Entenman and two people against it, council member Vernon Brown and instructor Bob Barclay.

Some of these officials are saying our four-part series and the events center in general has been the main topic of discussion for many people in and around the city.

Two officials talked about why we should build it now while the other two tell us why this isn't the right time.

The four-part series was a way to show how other events center near us operate and what works or doesn't work for them.

"I think what your stories did was bring it together in a usable way for viewers to grasp and understand and I think it's helpful for people," Vernon Brown said.

"It shows and people are able to explain what those events center in these communities have done and showed challenges," Jim Entenman said.

If you haven't seen these pieces you can just click on the "Proposed Sioux Falls Events Center" link right on the top of our homepage.

Tonight at ten, you'll hear from all four men and why an events center should or shouldn't be built as we near our events center vote on Tuesday.
