As we've heard many times, the news of former governor Bill Janklow's terminal cancer is not easy news to hear. It's one thing the current governor of South Dakota did not see coming.
KSFY caught up with Governor Daugaard Friday evening in Gary, South Dakota. He told us though he didn't know Janklow well, what he did know well was the impact the former governor will leave on the state of South Dakota.
Daugaard said he knew about the diagnoses for about a week before Janklow's announcement earlier Friday afternoon.
"It had to have been a terrible shock for him and his family and friends. He's a man of strong intellect and of course, that's very unfortunate with a man like that," Governor Dennis Daugaard said.
Daugaard said what he admired most about Janklow was his willingness and power to do what's right for the state, no matter the position he held.
We will have much more of our interview with Governor Daugaard in our continued coverage of KSFY News, this weekend.
