Special Events Center election Tuesday in Sioux Falls

Posted: Updated:

If you plan to vote Tuesday you can just head to your regular precinct from 7:00 in the morning to 7:00 at night. If you don't know where that is click on "where to vote" on the left side of your screen for a list of the precincts. You can also click on "sample ballot" to get a look at the language of the ballot before you head to the polls. You do not absolutely need to have a photo I.D. with you but it will save you time. If you don't bring an I.D. you will need to fill out additional paperwork.

If passed, the Events Center will be a $115-million dollar facility. If passed it would be built adjacent to the current Sioux Falls Arena and Convention Center. It would seat 12,000 people for concerts and games. The City says your taxes won't be raised and there won't be any new taxes from the project. The project will be financed with the sale of bonds and to help pay for the center it would use a City sales tax which is already in place. In order for the measure to pass it needs a majority of votes.

If it passes Tuesday construction would start in August of 2012 and it could open two years later in the fall of 2014. Stick with KSFY for complete election coverage.
