Build It Now group setting up for event at Sioux Falls Convention Center

Posted: Updated:

The Build It Now group is expecting hundreds of people to come out to the Sioux Falls Convention Center Tuesday night.

Members have started to set up for the event which kicks off at 7 p.m.

We are told the ballroom they are in will hold up to 700 people. It looks like it will be mostly standing room but they do have a few tables set up.

On the tables, the group has a few flyers out that mention why build an events center.

There are also Build It Now t-shirts over in one corner.

We are joined now by Tony Reiss who is the Build It Now field director.

Reporter: How many people are you expecting tonight and is it invite only?

Tony: "It isn't an invite only. This is a night when everyone who supports it and all the volunteers that have spent countless hours knocking on doors, talking to voters. This is really a night for them. We are expecting a large turnout. We will see what happens when the polls close."

Reporter: How do you think this will go tonight?

Tony: "I'm cautiously optimistic. We put in a lot of hard work, a lot of volunteer hours. The sense I get from Sioux Falls, we're ready to make this investment. People understand this isn't just good for our city, but good for our region, good for jobs, good for our economy and realizing this could be an economic engine for Sioux Falls."

The Build It Now group has also launched radio and television ads in support of the events center. Many of course anxious to see if their hard work will pay off tonight.
