
KSFY/KWSN will release a weekly top-five poll for all classes throughout the regular season of Boys and Girls Basketball in South Dakota. Here is the preseason rankings for the three classes in Boys and Girls (AA, A, B). In these preseason rankings, the record for the 2010-11 season is included along with poll points.
Boys
AA
1.Mitchell (21-4), 25
2.Pierre (17-9), 20
3. SF Washington (17-9), 12
4. SF Lincoln (17-7), 10
5. Brookings (9-14), 8
Notes: Mitchell finished second a year ago, losing a 56-49 decision to Sioux Falls O'Gorman, and will go for its 16th overall title. This is head coach Gary Munsen's final season at the helm for the Kernels. Sioux Falls O'Gorman, which won the title a year ago, went 24-1 and has won titles in four of the last six seasons, including two straight.
A Boys
1.Dell Rapids (23-3), 25
2. St. Thomas More (25-1), 20
3. McCook Central/Montrose (19-3), 15
4. Pine Ridge (20-2), 10
5. Miller (19-7), 5
Notes: St. Thomas More won its third title in five years by defeating Viborg-Hurley, 63-47 in the 2010-11 title game. Dell Rapids was third last year and looks for its first since title since 1972 (Class B).
B Boys

3. Canistota (21-5), 12
4. Castlewood (17-7), 10

Notes: Corsica/Stickney won the Class B title a year ago but did not crack the preseason top-five. White River, which has won three titles (1955, 2008, 2010), will try to make a fourth consecutive trip to the State B Tourney and win its third title since 2008.Viborg/Hurley will try to win its first title. A year ago they were runner-up in Class A and now take a shot at Class B.
Girls AA
1. Brandon Valley (17-49), 25
2. Mitchell (15-9), 20
3. Aberdeen Central (14-11), 12
4. SF O'Gorman (21-4), 6
5. Yankton (16-10), 5
Rapid City Stevens (13-13), 5
Notes: A year ago Brandon Valley won its first ever title. Mitchell, which was seventh last year, goes for its fifth overall title but first since 2004. Aberdeen Central seeks its first title.
A Girls
1. St. Thomas More (24-2), 25
2. Parkston (20-3), 20
3. Wagner (16-4), 15
4. Beresford (23-3), 10
5. Elkton/Lake Benton (18-3), 5
Notes: A year ago, Sisseton won the Class A title for its five championship since 1985. They defeated Beresford, 50-39, which is ranked fourth and will seek its first state title. Sisseton also owns titles in 1990, 2000, 2001 and 2004. St. Thomas More will be looking for its first title as will Parkston. Wagner will go for its first title since winning consecutive crowns in 1997 and 1998.
B Girls
1. Centerville (20-6), 25
2. Freeman (19-4), 20
3. Parker (16-7), 15
4. Summit (26-0), 9
5. Herreid/Selby (18-4), 6
Also receiving votes Estelline (14-7), 3
Notes: A year ago Summit rolled to through an unbeaten season and won its second title in three seasons. Summit puts up its 26 game winning streak and will try and return to its fourth straight state tourney (three straight championship berths, two crowns, 2009 and 2011). Centerville, Freeman and Parker will try and win a first title.
