South Dakota man sentenced to 15 months in prison for walking away from halfway house

Posted: Updated:

A South Dakota man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for walking away from a halfway house.

David McGhee, of Lake Andes, was indicted by a federal grand jury for escape. Authorities say he had been serving a sentence for felon in possession of a firearm when he left Glory House in Sioux Falls.

U.S. District Judge Karen Schreier says the prison term for the 30-year-old McGhee should be added to the sentence he is current serving.

Authorities say McGhee was sentenced in December 2008 to 46 months in prison on the illegal weapons charge.
