Our "Scholar of the Week" is a success both in the classroom and outside the classroom.
Jeff McGraw is a good athlete; he plays football and runs track.
But he also has a class load that many people who run away from....but he embraces it.
One of the first things you notice about Clark High School senior Jeff McGraw is that he is a bit reserved and very humble when it comes to being honored for his academic work. "It's a huge honor. Honestly I was pretty surprised cause I have some classmates of mine that I...they are up there with me...and it was a thrill to be honored like that."
Jeff has an impressive class load this year: we caught up with him in his Physics class...no easy subject.
But Jeff is also studying Psychology, AP English and Accounting.
And he tackles these classes with enthusiasm. Clark High School Principal Jerry Hartley says people take notice of what Jeff is doing and how he does it. "Jeff is a student who has become kind of a role model for our other students in the building, especially our middle school."
Jeff is an athlete and a student and he is hoping to mix his success in both when he thinks about his future and what he wants to do as a career. "I plan on going to college and I'm gonna major in exercise science. I'm actually going to SDSU next year and to major in pre-physical therapy."
And for being named our "Scholar of the Week", Jeff will receive a $100 scholarship from Codington-Clark Cooperative, a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
