"I think it's blue with a circle and stuff."
"It has farming, a boat, agriculture."
Both of those descriptions are pretty accurate. The South Dakota flag is indeed blue and it includes a circular seal that features hills, a river with a boat, a farmer, a mine, and cattle.
We caught up with Shane Highstrom and his daughter Ariana making a snowman at Falls Park. Shane thinks there are likely bigger issues to discuss at the Legislative Session than changing the state flag. Plus, he says why mess with a good thing.
"I love our state flag. It's what I've grown up to know," said Highstrom.
That source of pride is what our forefathers had in mind, but maybe a symbol like a flag can be changed and embraced.
"I don't care what color it is or what it has on it as long as it represents South Dakota," said Paige Schnee.
