DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) - Officials say gambling revenue in Deadwood in 2011 is down nearly 5 percent compared to the year before.
The South Dakota Commission on Gaming reports that casino slot and table game revenues totaled $100.9 million in 2011. This is down from $106.2 million in 2010, despite up ticks in the final three months.
December revenues increased more than 3 percent to about $7.2 million
Caleb Arceneaux, chief executive officer for ISIS Hospitality says business has slowed in part because of the economy and a statewide smoking ban.
He says that to offset the downturn, Deadwood casinos have passed out free play more liberally.
