Rob Swenson editor of the Sioux Falls Business Journal joined us to talk about what's new in local business.
TCF Financial Corp. is hiring 200 people to staff its expanded operations in Sioux Falls.
The company has purchased a building in southwestern Sioux Falls, at 4101 W. 38th St.
The company's lone branch bank in South Dakota is a few blocks away, at 2505 S. Louise Ave. The TCF jobs are another step in the rebound of the city's financial services sector. Capital One Financial is hiring 400. Citibank, Wells Fargo and Citibank also have been hiring again, in the recent past.
Also, a new strip mall planned at East 10th Street and Lowell Avenue might have an Aaron's rental shop and a Subway Restaurant as tenants, in addition to an existing casino and another possible future tenant.
Peska Properties is developing the new strip mall at the Cone's Corner site, which was ravaged by fire last March.
And beginning with the February 8th issue, the Sioux Falls Business Journal will return to weekly publication.
For readers who live in the four-county metro area (Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook and Turner counties) the Business Journal will be inserted every Wednesday into the Argus Leader.
Readers who live beyond the four-county area can continue to subscribe to the Business Journal or access it online.
